This day ten years ago, the first lines of code were written for Notebooks.
Back then, when the App Store was young and featured just a few thousand apps, I had no idea where this experiment would lead. The project was originally intended to address my own note taking needs, but soon after Notebooks’ initial release in December 2008 I realized that it meets many users’ requirements. That was when Notebooks started to get “serious”.
Today, the App Store has changed dramatically, and so has the number of available (note taking) apps. Getting discovered has become increasingly challenging, but I am glad that many user still consider Notebooks the best note taking app. And as of today, its combination of functionality is still unique.
We’re not tired, and we have not run out of ideas yet, so we keep on going. A few interesting updates are due soon.

Congratulations Alfons. Notebooks is the ONLY app that has consistently remained with me for 10 years with iOS. The constant (and thoughtful) updates are why I have stayed. I am excited to see what is coming next…

Congratulations! It was one of my first apps on ios ten years ago and I am still using it! I just wonder if you are still developing the Windows desktop app since I recently changed from Mac to PC.
Thanks a lot for your feedback! Currently our focus is on the macOS version. We are working on a major update, which we hope to publish within the next couple of weeks – I know, we have been saying that for a while now 🙂
With this update we separate the twins (macOS and PC versions used to be created from a common code base), and that should allow us to focus on the strengths of each platform. The further strategy will of course depend on sales numbers as well 😉
