If you are unable to view documents on an iPad in fullscreen-mode, please turn on Column View in Notebooks’ Settings > General. An update which addresses this issue is on its way to the App Store. We are sorry for this inconvenience.
This is a minor update containing a few improvements and enhancements:
- When editing a document’s first line on an iPad, Notebooks correctly updates the title in the left column again.
- Notebooks checks for and imports shared items (items sent to Notebooks) more frequently. It used to do so during startup only, but now Notebooks performs the check every time you switch books.
- When extracting contexts, Notebooks now requires a whitespace before # and @. This keeps Notebooks from interpreting anchors in URLs as context tags.
- We added an option not to show the completion date for done tasks (Settings > Tasks).
- This update also addresses a potential startup issue which was reported by a user.
Notebooks 8.3.1 for iPad and iPhone
After downloading this update, Notebooks 8 crashes every time I try and create a new document. I can create new books without any problem but the app closes immediately as soon as I choose either formatted document or plain text document. I am using the app on an iPad Air.
Hi Wendy, sorry to hear you are having problems with this update. None of the changes in Notebooks 8.3.1 should affect the creation of new documents, so I am wondering what is going on. Have you tried to restart your iPad or iPhone? Does that change anything?
Hi again, we just received a hint that this issue might be related to using Notebooks in full screen mode. So you might try turning on “Column View” in Notebooks’ settings > general to see if the issue goes away.
I come up against same crashes as Wendy.

wie soll man da die übersicht bei längeren dateinamen haben ?
ohne spaltenansicht lassen sich die dateien nicht öffnen.
wie kommt man zurück zur version 8.3 wenn man diese in itunes nicht gespeichert hat.
solche dinge solltet ihr testen bevor die app online gestellt wird.
Hallo Nick, es war nicht zu erwarten, dass die Änderungen in diesem Update die Darstellung der Dokumente beeinflussen. Die Ursache dieses Problem hat nicht nur uns, sondern viele andere Entwickler auch am falschen Fuß erwischt…
Um die Übersicht über längere Dateinamen zu behalten kannst du die Anzahl der Vorschauzeilen erhöhen (Info), und in den Einstellungen die Option “Titel einzeilig anzeigen” ausschalten; ich hoffe, so kann man auch mit dem aktuellen Workaround gut arbeiten.

ich hoffe Ihr könnt das bald wieder richten.
Da ich die Notebooks App jeden Tag nutze wäre es sehr schade wenn man
immer mit diesem workaround zurechtkommen müsste.
Möglicherweise durch ein IOS update verursacht !
Notebooks gehört nicht nur für mich zu den 5 wichtigsten apps auf dem ipad.

Wir haben das Update mit der Korrektur schon an Apple geschickt, hoffentlich wird es innerhalb der nächsten 1-2 Tage freigegeben.

the workaround helps but isnt a solution for a longer time.
guess the reason for that is the latest ios upate.
Hope I soon can use my favourite app on ipad as i am used to.
